Mandi, formerly Mandava Nagar, which is also known as Tibetan Sahor or Zahor, is a city in the Indian state of Himachal Pradesh. It is the second-largest district in the state after Shimla in terms of population. The district is officially known as Mandi in the mandi district and the zonal headquarters, namely the Kullu, Bilaspur, and Hamirpur districts, including the host city of the central region and a municipal council. Mandi has the second-highest sexual relationship of 1013 women per thousand men. As a tourist destination, Mandi is often referred to as “Varanasi of Hills” or “Chhoti Kashi” or “Himachal’s Kashi”. Mandi’s people proudly state that while Banaras (Kashi) has only 80 temples, Mandi has 81!

Mandi, the historic city of Himachal Pradesh, located on the banks of the Beas River, has been the center of commercial activities for a long time. Located at an altitude of 760 meters above sea level, this city is one of the fast-growing cities of Himachal. It is said that the great sage Mandava meditated here and had supernatural powers. In addition, he had knowledge of many texts. It is believed that he used to do penance sitting on a stone called Kolsara, on the western shore of the Beas River. The city is famous for its 81 ancient stone temples and the magnificent carvings made in them. Due to the multiplicity of temples, it is also known as Varanasi of the mountains. The name Mandi is derived from the Sanskrit word Mandoika which means open field.

Mandi, a frequent central trading point of Himachal Pradesh, is essentially much more than this.
